Boating Information.

Petrol motors are permitted on Peter Faust Dam and there is no size restrictions. To fish Peter Faust Dam you will require a stocked impoundment permit, the permit covers you to fish in 25 dams across Queensland and raises funds directly for fish stocking.  Permits can be obtained locally at Lions Camp Kanga, Proserpine Bait & Tackle, BP Proserpine and Proserpine Post Office. Fresh Water Impoundment Fishing Permits cost $7.00 / week or $35.00 / year. Normal boating and fishing rules apply on the Dam and details of speed and area restrictions are posted at the boat ramp, these are all visible to read when you launch your boat. The main rules are the no boating area near the Dam wall and the speed restriction near the marked swimming area. Just a short note on the weather, Lake Proserpine is just like any other major water storage impoundment, in that huge waves can be whipped up in fairly short time in adverse weather conditions. So never loose sight of what the weather is up too while you are out and about.

Size limits and bag limits still apply in fresh water and so does the Barramundi closed season. (see fish-web for more information).

Fish stocked in the Dam are Barramundi, Sooty Grunter, Sleepy cod and a few Saratoga.
