Lake Proserpine Invitational Catch & Release Fishing Tournament
12th - 13th October 2007

Intrigue and frustration was the atmosphere last weekend at Peter Faust Dam with the running of the Lake Proserpine Invitational Catch and Release Fishing Tournament.

80 competitors all chasing the big title of Champion Angler, the whether for the 2 days was a bit of a mix bag in the mornings and by lunch beautiful sunshine, there was concern from some anglers after a storm Friday night, that the wind would come up, to make it harder to chase the barramundi.

After the final scores came in Saturday evening and tallied up, it revealed our Champion Angler was  Bill Guest of Narrabri, NSW, with the score of 2,379.17 points, the Trophy was Sponsed by Proserpine Bait & Tackle.
Runner - up angler was Trevor Matsen of Oakenden Qld with the score of 1685.16 points, that trophy was sponsed by Proserpine Ex - Services club.

Other Trophy winners are Bill & Ben Guest, Bob North, Mitch Lester, Paul Wilson & Dave Rapley.
Besides the challenge of catching that allusive barramundi and the witty Sooty Grunter, the weekend finished up with 68 barra and 10 sooties caught. A live band, plenty of food and drinks, a good time was had by all.

The Faust Dam Fish Stocking Association Inc. are proud to have Tournament trophies supplied by local Whitsunday businesses and all prizes donated by industry groups who have recognised the value of supporting the stock impoundment fishing in this area.

With thanks to all competitors and businesses.
